Zoltan, yes it would be a real disaster if some of that cheap TVA power found its way to California, relieved their shortages, and lowered their rates. And of course it is wrong for Tennessee to have lower rates than the other 49 states, gotta get them up as soon as possible, setting a bad example.

Some of the complaints about TVA are on target. Yes, they hae lower cost power than ANY large private company and they have adequate reserves, but it could be even more efficient with better management. They did make some unwise nuclear investments in the 1970's.

But TVA is not government subsidized and has not been since 1945 except for the fact that it is entitled to borrow money at the lower government bond rates and does not pay income tax.
