I used to laugh about Fernley with friends. It's on the way to Pyramid Lake.

But I just read that Fernley is quickly growing as a bedroom community to Reno!

Are you talking about land near highway 50? It is quite pretty near there and Carson City looks like a neat town. It is on the good side of Tahoe in the sense that you would not be subject to the traveling chaos on hwy's 80 and 50 to and from the bay area. You are probably familiar with the type of land I mentioned along the E. Walker. Hi desert with very pretty mountain backdrops. Cows and sheep grazing in the pastures. Very scenic imo. In a month or so I will be making the annual father/sons (I'm one of the sons) trip to the eastern Sierra's where I will cut through the mountains a bit south of Carson city and hit hwy 395 near Minden, which is also a neat little town.

NV is nice for outdoor enthusiasts in that there are not near as many rules as we have in CA. Feinstein does not want us to be able to ride a motorcycle in the desert because we might wake up a lizard or something. That is one aspect I am quite happy with regarding the land we just purchased in Shasta County. Lots of recreational land use available (4wd, atv's, shooting, hunting, fishing, etc), especially for CA. Amazingly cheap by CA standards also.
