When you have a big advertiser like say a Dell or an Intel, it's pretty darn hard to bite the hand that feeds you.
I've always enjoyed the Register. I saw them as a counter culture tabloid like publication where you could get the real inside scoop rather than the big boys' propaganda.
Never occured to me they were taking ad money from Intel.

OTOH, ask yourself why Intel would be advertising on the Register.

Many other "the real truth" type publications pride themselves on not taking ad money from certain companies",
