A somewhat fair article; where did you get it from? My basic point of contention, which I have probably belabored to death, is the impact of the price manipulation. My PG&E bill shows not only what I pay for electricity, but what it really 'costs' PG&E. Even though I pay about $.13, they claim it cost them $.20, plus another $.07 for transmission and distribution. And the costs climb each month. So, if they passed on the total cost, my bill would be $1,400 PER MONTH AND CLIMBING. My previous average was $300-400 per month. As the article points out, the economic impact of passing these costs on to the consumer would THROW THIS COUNTRY INTO A DEPRESSION (forget the R word). My other question: HAS THE COST OF PRODUCING ENERGY RISEN BY THIS RATE? The answer is NO. The reason is simple: energy producers are running rampant, and are in danger of ruining our economy. Your position seems to be: it's not my problem. Interstate isolationism. It WILL spread; is that when you take it seriously? If you think the stock market has tanked, wait until you PRAY for the days when the Dow was >9000 and the Nasdaq 1800. How does 2000 and 500 strike you? 25% unemployment? Soup kitchens? Most Californians realize that some cost needs to be passed on; it is already being passed on through our state budget. However, when are the robber barons going to be stopped? Bush won't stop them. Don't you realize that the people with the knife to OUR throats are these monopolies?
