well, if you were watching NAZ stocks, then that may be true. but that's NOT what Japanese institutions are usually buying/holding/selling(whatever the case may be)...they are way too conservative for that. the plunge in the Dow that gathered pace as soon as Fitch put the Japanese banks on credit watch was a give-away as far as i'm concerned. certainly no US mufus had been selling that stuff until today. again, most of those actually were selling NAZ stocks if anything, since they are all trend followers, not anticipators...what's more, many US mufus have been, and still are, way overweight in tech.
more generally, tech remains by far the most overvalued sector, and LOTS of tech paper has been printed over the past two years. the huge floats of the behemoths have proven their downfall.
