"I consider it a shame that a lot of things in nature that were once common, are now rare"

So do I.

Hello haqihana,
Just read an article in today's paper about a weekend event in Stockton, CA for the adoption of 80 wild horses and 20 burros. Couldn't find a link for the whole article, but says that "The Western states are home to about 45,000 wild horses, descendants of the Mustangs brought to North America by Spanish explorers". The burros are from the Mojave desert and came from the gold mining days.

They (horses) roam the high deserts of Nevada and Northeastern California. BLM does an annual roundup to thin the herds to prevent overgrazing and prevent conflicts with livestock. The animals are wormed and vaccinated and the adoption event includes demos on gentling techniques along with info on the care and feeding.

Now that sounds like a good government program to me.

Have a good weekend.
