The Ashton Technology Group Announces Addition of 50 New Stocks to eVWAP
Trading System

Business Editors/Hi-Tech Writers

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2001--The Ashton
Technology Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASTN) announced today it will add 50
additional stocks for trading on its electronic volume weighted
average price (eVWAP(TM)) trading system, effective Monday, March 26,
2001.
This will increase eVWAP eligibility to 150 issues.
eVWAP is an anonymous, pre-opening matching system to execute
orders at the SEC approved standardized volume weighted average price
(eVWAP Price(TM)). Participants receive confidential, binding match
reports prior the market open, with the eVWAP Price automatically
ascribed to such trades following that day's market close.
Key users of the eVWAP system, which is operated by Ashton as a
facility of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, include institutional
fund managers, and broker dealers.
Fredric Rittereiser, Ashton Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
said, "We are excited about recently rising eVWAP volume and match
rates and see this as an ideal time to expand the list of eligible
issues to accommodate broader use of the system." He added, "The
demand for eVWAP has been piqued by traders who find eVWAP a haven
from their orders being splintered by decimalization -- eVWAP is block
liquidity at one superior price."
The following 150 issues will be eligible for trading on March
26th, with new issues preceeded by (-):
