I sorta can see your point Tim.. I mean.. the US likes to be the best in the world in everything it does.. so why would it want to endorse something that jeporardizes its position as the world's best CO2 emitter? I can see it crystal clear now

That is certainly their prerogative. However it doesn't mean that we have to do something as stupid as that.
