Singapore, March 26 (Bloomberg) -- Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Ltd. plans to sell as much as $402 million of bonds convertible into stock, a sale some investors said may be more attractive as global stock markets slide.

The spot price for the industry-standard 64-megabit dynamic random access memory chip last week rose 2.4 percent to an average of $2.12, according to DRAMeXchange.Com, an Internet DRAM trading site.

``Chip prices are unlikely to fall further,'' said Lee Jae Young, who manages $535 million in Korean investments at Hyundai Investment Trust Management Co. ``They will eventually rebound on decreased inventories by personal-computer makers.''
