I remember when Jerry Brown took office as Gov. One of the first things he did was to look at the Govs mansion, and say something to the effect of "I don't need this big place to live in". Instead, he kept an apartment. Then, he looked at the big limo they had and said, "I don't need that". He used some less expensive (American made) car to get around. Don't know if it was true or urban legend, but he is definitely one of the more honest politicians (oxymoron?) around. His views are certainly to the left (imagine not taking large campaign contributions when running for President - shameful!); I think if he had moderated to the middle, he could have been a viable candidate. But then he wouldn't be Jerry...
