crafted so that it focuses on "continuing operations" ... indeed, imo, there is only one sentence that's important and you have to look closely to find it - it's buried at the end of the third paragraph.

Including its discontinued operations, the company's net loss for the second quarter of 2001 was $168.9 million, or $1.75 per diluted share.
