Do you happen to know the average inventory turn rates for these guys? The inventory stated on many of the 12/31/00 balance sheets are somewhat higher than a year ago, but the totals are less than one quarter's sales. If they have cut back on parts orders then levels should be getting back to "normal" levels by now, with the likely exception of folks doing work for LU, which has lost a lot of business to NT and CSCO in recent quarters.

That being said there are numerous reference to inventory obsolescence throughout the 10K's going back for years, so it appears to be part of the business cycle for inventory to get written off. That time may well be coming as you suggest.

You also mentioned a lot of fighting over who owned the inventory. Don't the contracts spell that out clearly enough? I know that ACTM specified in their 10Q that:

"We may purchase components for product assemblies based on customer forecasts. Our policy is that customers are generally responsible for materials and associated acquisition costs in the event of a significant reduction, delay or cancellation of orders from the forecasted amounts. "

Just trying to get a feel as to how much of the inventory will get worked off before it becomes obsolete.

Do you feel this information is not already factored into the stock prices?
