I am fond of labels. I got really sick of the drive to not label things in the sixties and seventies. Things that are offensive should be called offensive, things that are wrong (according to a standard) should be called wrong. When a guy is riding a horse and roping a cow its ok with me if you call him a cowboy. When someone is pushing an agenda and calling it something else it is dishonest and its fine with me to call them a liar, X. When someone is behaving in a disengenuous manner and gets caught its ok with me to call that person a dumb dufoos, or dipstick because that matches my image of them and is readily congers understanding at a variety of levels. Like wise with an asshole like solon who is an ego maniac looking for victims. The point of the word asshole is understood literally and inferentially and carries the sense of emotional opine that is intended.

If I call you a cowboy. You might object saying that you don't know any cows or that you are female. You might question the inferencial meaning (one who is wildly independant).

What you are refering to namecalling however is more of "don't call me what I am, unless you can make it sound nice." Ok, I get that. Someone who is committing adultery is not really betraying their wife, kids etc.; they are having "something very special" with another person. Well, at least if we call it something nice. I get it. I prefer to be direct and call things what they are. Not sorry, if that offends you.
