"We see the [CBP4.0] CDMA processor as the platform for voice and data communications for next-generation cellular handsets, as well as consumer hand-held and infotainment devices, such as cellular phones with e-mail and Internet access capabilities," Kevin McDermott, director of marketing for LSI Logic's Wireless division.

This is just great news. The more CDMA in the world, the better.

If this move by LSI is as bold as their 2G chips, it just might garner as much of the market as IDCC and their chips... or maybe even Intel... Phillips...?

While very long on verbiage in their press releases, LSI has been notable short on actual CUSTOMERS for their chips. Other than signing up a couple of rinky-dink no names for 2G, their impact so far has been a collective yawner...

With Q including tons of new features on their 2.5 and 3G chipsets, I think I'll be able to rest easy if this is our biggest competition...

And when did TI release the equivalent of an MSM chip for 3G???? Did I sleep through that announcement?
