"My kids always sit in the back, away from the airbag. I had a (legal) switch put into the car to turn the passenger side airbag on and off in those rare instances when a kid needs to sit in front."

Just saw a dateline (or 60 minutes 2) that addressed our knee jerk reactions to every possible safety issue. There were 8 kids killed by airbags in one year and that prompted the whole put your kind in the backseat thing. Well what do you know, there were EIGHTEEN kids KILLED the following year by the back of the front seat breaking with the weight of the adult SMASHING the kid in rear end collisions. You should have seen the father that thought he was in a pretty survivable wreck only to realize he had crushed his own child to death. No regulations on how strong a seat needs to be btw. Any child being killed is incredibly tragic and sad. 18 is worse than 8 imo (and most everyones). No statistics on how many kids were SAVED by the airbags.

Something else to ponder o fearful one.

Officers carry handguns because they're main purpose is to direct, and not fight.
Huh??? Officers carry handguns to defend themselves and because they are more portable and less intrusive than a rifle. But still to defend themselves. They may not be the primary front-line soldiers, but they can get into situations where they have to shoot.
Did you think they carried them just for decoration?

Are you saying that they carry them because they are more effective than rifles?
Pardon me, but I said they are NOT more effective that rifles. They are neither as accurate more do they have the same penetrating power. They are easier to handle and more portable, though.

I will repeat: the 2nd amendment is not a gun law.
Uh..... I already said the 2nd amendment is not a gun law; it is a limitation on constitutional gun laws. Your interpretation is wrong.

And BTW, there was a second meaning of "militia" current at the time that amendment was written. Basically, a states militia consisted of all its able-bodied male citizens. And that was what that amendment was referring to.
