My point exactly. The historical context of the sentence helps in the parsing; the "right of the people to keep and bear Arms" is clearly a modifier to the first clause regarding the Militia.

That makes no sense. If the right of the people to keep and bear arms is a modifer then the main clause would be "a well regulated milita being nessiary to the security of a free state." That clause doesn't serve any legal purpose it doesn't mandate anything or forbid anything or set any conditions. It doesn't make any sense except as rhetorical support for the clause that does make a positive legal statement, namely that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Tim

A professor of law at UCLA talks about how he teaches the 2nd Amendment.

Name the myth, there is an answer here and often some facts to back it up from unbiased sources such as the Dept. of Justice or the CDC. BTW the myth that guns aren't used to deter crimes is in there.

Psychologically speaking why are people against self defense to the extent they will claim some of the myths mentioned above.

A Professor of Journalism takes you throught the 2nd Amendment word by word and explains the dynamics of the wording.

Well, if you slog through all this you will at least see where some here are coming from in an intellectual and practical sense. Otherwise, you will have expected us to just believe the newspapers and politicians.....not likely IMO.
