thanks for the dell tech update. sounds like they are doing all that they can. not fun for you, but service after the sale is what counts.

recently i was at staples with a friend and he was considering buying either a compaq or hp they had in the store. i had been recommending dell for their warranty and service. the store manager heard me and said he knew that there were no dell certified techs in our rural area, and that i'd better check dell's on-site warranty very closely because he felt that they would not send a tech here.

i called dell that night and asked that question directly. he confirmed my location and said the nearest dell certified repairman was 200 miles away, and that there was NO PROBLEM with getting him here on the next day to fix whatever went wrong with my machine.

he told me that they have sent pc repairmen to customers in antarctica.

please keep us posted on the repair, if you don't mind. you probably will learn a lot watching and asking questions.
