I have read that the delay in launching Operation Barbarossa was caused by that little problem in the Balkans (Yugoslavia again!), not by North Africa. North Africa may have also contributed, though.

And that delay did have significant effects. The Germans probably would have taken Moscow and Leningrad without it. The Russians were unready for the invasion; Stalin simply could not believe his buddy Hitler was going to knife him in the back.

And I'm fighting the wrong battles here myself; I'm supposed to be battling leftists, not conservatives!
