I was going more for a teal position than a maroon one. In the context of the discussion, it was fewer guns in the general population, not taking away from law enforcement or the military. That would put them in a superior position to the bad guys. How is taking guns out of the general population going to hurt our law enforcement? It can only help. Laws are created all the time to prevent stupid people from doing stupid things. Most traffic laws are designed specifically with that in mind. They are also designed to prevent stupid people from doing stupid things to YOU and ME. Without such laws, you could hardly leave the house without being harmed in some way by some stupid clod "doing their own thing". "People with the intent to kill kill and sometimes use guns" The problem is that the ones with guns are usually much more efficient at their job. Do you think those two punks in Colorado would have been able to kill 13 people with knives? They were punks; they would have been disarmed almost immediately. Or that guy who kill 30+ people at the McDonalds in San Diego years ago? Another punk. Punks who, instead of just ending their own lives, feel the need to take as many others with them as possible. If you come at me with a knife, I have a pretty good chance at defending myself. If you come at me with a gun, I have no chance. If we both have guns, we'll probably kill each other and take some bystanders with us. What a solution.
