Bush has only been in office for two months so its not his recession -- yet -- except inasmuch as he's associated himself with it by talking down the economy for the sake of his tax cut. The longer it goes on the more he'll be associated with it because it's happening on his watch.

If everything's better by summer 2002 then Bush is home free. If the recession lasts until then, Bush and the Republicans had better watch out in the midterm elections.
