Namely, that there is no (locatable link to a) known heritable mutation occurring in the wild. Hemophilia in people is an example of a heritable mutation that seems to be recent. Most mutations are recessive, therefore not expressed. Mutation rate is 1 in 1e6 per allele, but this has to occur in a gamete and it has to not kill the zygote.
