The phrase about a well- regulated militia is a rationale, the injunction is: the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Sorry, but the right of self- defense is as essential as the right of free- speech, perhaps moreso. And I do not own a gun.......

As Neocon points out, this is the wording of the amendment:

Article II.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
(bold type mine)

It does NOT say "the right of the militia" or "the right of the National Guard", it says the right of the PEOPLE.
I rest my case.

If you can get a constitutional amendment (which I doubt) changing that word, then you can have your way; until then, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Right, that's what makes you a fascist dupe.

I never stated that guns should be taken away from the military, or from peace officers, just from the general populace.
