It is a pretty interesting book but I don't recommend ordering it from Amazon unless you want them e-mailing you with headlines that say "Hey, we have another Marijuana book available". It doesn't look good at the office. What it does say is "There is no epidemiological or aggregate clinical data showing higher rates of lung cancer in people who smoke marijuana (than the general population)". One study they sight that actually shows pot smokers with lower incidence of emphysema and asthma than the general population involved daily or weekly smokers over an average of 19 years. A UCLA study with the same conclusion talks of 2 to 3 joints a day over 15 years! From what I remember from my college days, that is a lot. Anyway, you are correct that it cannot be proven. Obviously there are people who smoke pot only (no cigs) that got lung cancer, but no evidence to suggest anything higher than the general population. Also THC itself is NOT a carcenegen, but there is a lot of other stuff in there I'm sure. Pot smokers apparently (according to this book) get symptoms like coughing/phlegm/bronchitis almost as often as cig smokers do. Anyway, don't want to overdo it. I only pointed it out because people sometimes lump pot in with stuff that really will kill you and mess up your life and it is really less hazardous than both cigarettes and alcohol. Hadn't seen that subject broached and thought I'd throw my thoughts out there. Have a good weekend. Scott
