S&P and NDX futures are all I trade now on an intraday basis. I used to intraday trade stocks but basically found that trading futures had the same or better potential and I could focus on only two different markets (contracts) instead of spending my evenings going over scan lists, identifying which of many markets(stocks) I was going to monitor for setups.

For a while I reduced my intraday trading to 10 of the more volatile and commonly traded tech stocks, and that was an improvement, but still too many markets (for me) to monitor. Plus, since I am equally if not more comfortable on the short side, stocks have definite limitations in that respect.

So leverage, less to watch, short or long, liquid markets - all brought me to trading index futures.

In the end I think narrowing my focus has allowed me to focus on technique more and I'm very pleased that I made the switch in 1999.
