Charles:

> I think I personally could easily find ways to use and enjoy 10 times the bandwidth and compute power I use now. I've just barely started listening to the (virtual) "radio" via the Internet and some (virtual) "TV." My kids use the Internet quite a bit already, and their use is increasing.

Oh I am sure no one would mind using more bandwidth, more features such as Radio, TV, etc. etc. over the Internet.

However the problem is those who have been providing these fancy features and offerings have not been making a dime! Consumers may like these, but the providers (e.g. the .COMs and all related industries whether it is Exodus, or WorldCom, or ...) no longer are going to provide them at the Venture Capitalist's expense! Not that they dont want to do that, it is just that the VCs have turned into a bunch of smart business men and women and have come to know that Cyber business entities have been nothing but charitable non-profit organizations, and while they have been doing a great service to the public by providing them very nice cyber features, they themselves have not made a dime out of them! And all you have to do is take a look at CMGI and the people who fueled the venture fund company with billions of dollars!!

You see the people who were funding the providers to provide high bandwidth, making it possible for people to listen to radio over the net, watch TV, or buy over the internet (e.g. Amazon) have figured it out that while these are interesting and revolutionary things, in reality there is not money to be made, unless the consumer is willing to pay for them! And I doubt very much consumers like the idea of paying to use the cyber fancy offerings!

And I bet you 1000 shares of SUNW that once they start charging you to listen to radio over the net, or pay dearly for having a much more bandwidth, you will think twice before asking for such features!

In short the 1999-2000 business model of building infrastructures at the expense of VCs is dead, and unless cyberspace businesses start figuring out how to make money without consumer paying for their offerings, the notion of having radio and tv on the net, or buying stuff over the net (via entities such as Amazon) will be nothing but a very nice fantasy! In other words and as the old lady in the Wendy's commerical used to say: Where is the Beef! And because there is no beef the unrealistic super exponential growth rate that people thought companies such as Sun could have for ever and ever will not be there!

Of course and needless to say all JMHO!
