Patricia your party has been taken over by the extremists. The Universities in this country have become a cult. In a cult great care is taken to demonize anyone who does not think the way you want them to. You don't allow your followers to hear the ideas of others. Universities today express fear that ideas contrary to the PC ideals will be expressed. People such as David Horowitz who were allowed to speak radical thoughts in the 60's without interference are now demonized and shouted down. College professors are quoted as saying that "freedom of the press is antiquated".
