No, it's not QC. It's other apps running in the background, etc., etc. Deactivate or uninstall all of them. Upgrade the RAM, defrag periodically, scan for disk errors, etc., etc.

It's the preemie of programs. Under optimum conditions, it runs, if you don't run anything else. Good program. Gives new meaning to multitasking. With nothing else on the computer running, multitasking is doing all the tasks necessary to keep QC running.
