re: Qualcomm & Texas Instruments cross licensing

from TI's annual report:
"Within TI's Semiconductor segment, wireless revenue increased 28% last year, generating more than $500 million in new revenue as a result.

Late in the year, TI signed a cross-licensing agreement with Qualcomm covering both companies' patent portfolios. The agreement allows each company to supply integrated circuits for all wireless standards. We also expended our geographic position by working with China's Ministry of Information Industries to establish a joint ventures with four Chinese manufacturers to develop and distribute wireless handsets and consumer electronics."

Interesting, it seems that TI's deal with CDMA may have been motivated as much by the China opportunity as for other vendors like Nokia, Ericsson, etc. Comments?
