Unlike you, I have never had a problem understanding the concept of "campaign contribution." It's when Individual A or Organization A gives money to Candidate B or Political Organization B. This concept isn't nearly as difficult to comprehend as, say, "dark matter in the universe." Although you may find the latter easier to understand since your brain has more "dark matter" than most people's.
