Mike,
Perhaps your partners should be a little more understanding of your recent life change.
OTOH, I've been in and out of business a few times and sometimes it's hard to regain the passion to do the same thing all over again. Sometimes a little vacation helps.
If you have your same sources, the old Register wouldn't be that hard to replicate?

Jim

Jeez, Mike, what's going on? I thought you still owned 22% or something. The Register won't be The Register without you.

Methinks they doth protest too much.
I'm baffled that the Reg can't seem to take a little controversy of their own, considering it's the lifeblood of it's existence. Wherever you write I will find it and read it. (and likely quote it half out of context with no link or attribution!)

Mike,

Sue them for the other 78% of TheReg. What you posted here was in no way grounds for summary dismissal. IMO they are way out of line.

While I guess there is history behind this that we are not privy to, that email "for and on behalf of" certainly shows up those three stooges to be complete assholes. So you got upset about some of the changes going on at TheReg. Well, there are ways of handling a smooth transition of the balance of power and that email is not one of them. Not much attempt at reconciliation or gratitude for past services was there?

What I can't understand about their action is that, while the Reg's motto is biting the hand that feeds it, they have just chopped it off. Your articles were the life blood of that rag, as illustrated by its decline during your absence. They will see advertising revenue dwindle now, unless they have a long-term contract with Intel, and, Rambus knows, that would not be worth the paper it was written on.

Put it behind you. The Reg was getting too verbose anyway. A bit like the unmoderated thread got towards the end. A new site is a good idea.

Mike, in my opinion The Register as we loved died the moment you went for your vacation last year. I stopped to read it on a regular basis shortly after you left and observed that it got worse and worse. IMO your entertaining stories and interesting rumors that were the sometimes unbelievable but always backed off by sources made The Register so popular. Now we only find there copy & paste stories that are based on some obscure sources like Yahoo's message boards.

Maybe you should start over again or do something completely different. Sometimes it's a good idea to try out new things and leave others behind. I don't think that the recent development at The Register bode well for its future. Especially now after you were forced to leave. But you should always keep in mind that The Register's success was based on your efforts and stories.

Mike,

Holy Sh*t!

I guess nobody can question your integrity now. Sorry things came to this, but it sounds like you may have been done with them anyway. They are removed from my bookmarks. I would ask everyone else to boycott their site. It's not worth reading without your stories, anyway.

Best wishes.

Pravin.

Mike - Re: "We will give you a formal letter of dismissal on Monday. "

After years of bizarre half-truths - and untruths - from the YUK Wretchedster, is this yet another example of a phony "news item" that is so typical of your wet rag?

Mike Magee,

Sorry for the late response. As long as I can bear it, The Register is off my hotlist. Perhaps this is a small consolation. :)
