It's amazing how many people do not buy anything on the web because they are afraid to give their credit card over the web yet they do it every day elsewhere.

I don't care about my CC as much as my phone # and other personal information. You are right that it's just as safe as any other transaction. Even though I know it's no different then when I buy at a store, at the retailer I just give my CC to the clerk, I don't have to provide my phone#, address, e-mail etc. That turns me off since selling buyer information is part of the overall business plan or part of the bankruptcy plan. The idea that someone is tracking everything you buy is too much in your face on the net even if it’s not different. I use my supermarket bonus card, it’s swiped I’m sure they are building a database of what I like and selling it to others but at least they don’t make me give over personal info on every transaction. A viable privacy law would make the net a better place to buy.
