the drumbeat for a weaker dollar is faint now but as business continues to scrape bottom it might quite actually become deafening. So loud as to quickly become policy. There is just no way Americans will put up with an economy such as Japan has experienced, over the last ten years, for very long.
If the dollar does not come down, deflation will reign. Americans are too proactive to put up with any sort of deflation now that the tech boom has smoothed out. Big business and its downline will be out after political heads primarily in NY and CA if things do not turn around quickly.
A friend from northern CA came into town recently. Not only are prices for many general items lower but lower in Canadian dollars. Basics like winter mitts and pizza.
