I believe when one takes out the tobacco(which isn't traded as a "commodity" because of grading) US farm subsidy total falls by near 35%. Another major part of the "subsidy" total comes in the form of Farm Credit Administration (FCA),Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development, Council of Economic Advisers,Federal Trade Commission,U.S. Department of Agriculture, international marketing efforts by government which many farmers question the worth, part of the cost of the import export bank, part of cost of making trade agreements, the cost of the CFTC and on and on.......

The question isn't how much of a subsidy we provide to farms, but how much of a subsidy we provide to worthless bureaucrats which dribble out a few pennies of each dollar we tax payers provide to help farmers!
