Charles - get serious. In case you didn't know, sales of Windows based PCs outnumber sales of Unix clients of all types by more than 50 to 1. It's not my definition, it's the market's definition.

I'm not trying to stack the deck against Sun here. The reality is that an end to end solution in today's world requires PCs and Sun does not sell them.

IBM had an end to end solution with mainframes and 3270 terminals too - you can probably still buy that configuration. Narrowly defining the market doesn't change reality.

Maybe in 4 or 5 years Linux will be a more significant part of the client market, and that would open the door to a Solaris play in that space. That could certainly happen in handheld devices. But there is almost no acceptance of that premise in today's world.
