Steve:
I just got this in, Mike Magee, longtime friend of the OCP is no longer at The Register. . .
whoa. Mike made a post in the Silicon Investor Forums. ( someone tell me this is a
joke....).

Mike,

We view your behaviour last night as gross misconduct. Criticism of The Register
and its management in public is unacceptable, and you have already been
formally made aware of this. Resignation on a public bulletin board is frankly
bizarre, but in any event you have effectively dismissed yourself by your conduct.

We will give you a formal letter of dismissal on Monday. Your access to the site
has been barred, and will not be restored. We forbid you to post further stories, to
access or attempt to access non-public areas of the site, and to represent yourself
in any way as a Register employee or representative. You are forbidden to enter
company property without
permission, or to use company equipment without permission. We will be in touch
with you shortly regarding return of keys and any other company property you
may hold.

For and on behalf of:
Linus Birtles, Drew Cullen, John Lettice

RE:"First point I'd like to talk about with the release is all the talk from different analysts and hardware guru's saying that AMD was delaying the release of the 1.33GHz due to problems with the chip. "

Would be very surprise of that. I'm running my 1.2GH200FSB at 1.3334GHzFSB266 with great stability. I ever OC it at 1410MzFSB296 but not any more, for the sake of good noise/speed ratio I like it moor at 1.3334GHz. And it's a old 1.2 ... not the "C" version.

As per some proof that this chip was not delayed, check below.
The driver CD for the review system is dated 2-20-01. That would be February 20, 2001.
Almost a month before release, AMD was reportedly showing OEM's the 1.33GHz. Delay?

AMD went back to their good old release style, not the recent DDR-hype one. A chipset driver CD dated of a month before a release is certainly not abnormal, it's rather wise.
