Good points; I'd frankly forgotten that we were taught a lot that they are missing. I'm not sure how well rounded an education they are getting, since my kids haven't been through it. A friend of mine just sent his oldest to UCLA. He spent most of his last years in high school taking Advanced Placement classes, which basically were college classes. But, the cost of that was missing some of things we were taught: British Literature, Advanced Composition, Classics, and Wood Shop (hey, you need some practical education). And, with the kids not on the AP course, they probably just took more study hall.

I can tell you that I'm going to be following the education of my kids closely; I guess that's the only way to get some piece of mind that they won't end unable to land anything better than head cashier at the Piggly Wiggly.
