Orion: As I think through the Micron numbers, it becomes easy to speculate that they (MU) might have stuffed MUEI much in the way that the best cons stuff a channel, by shipping their memory to them at inflated internal transfer pricing, preserving a $0.01 EPS for the Q while tanking the MUEI numbers. And then write it off as a one time charge associated with the liquidation of the PC business rather than suffer the consequences of bad operational numbers.

This hypothetical illustrates the netherworld that the non-RDRAM MM's are living in right now IMHO. Things are real bad for them, COGS exceeds market pricing for SDRAM / DDR DRAM, and desperate times call for desperate measures. They are going to miss an opportunity to make some real coin on RDRAM, and let the Japanese and Koreans walk away with the future of DRAM. Excluding Hyundai of course. It doesn't look like they have any future.

Just my speculation,

BP
