Thanks for the clarification. You're correct, I didn't begin listening to Bob until 1990, and I don't recall him having mentioned this before (though he might have). I had heard that he didn't "call" the '87 crash, and that he moved partially into cash afterwards. It's good to know the reasoning behind that move, and why it wasn't successful.

Clearly, this time his long-term timing model did a bang-up job predicting the risk/reward of being in the market at the start of 2000. I hope it can do equally well in getting us back in, but no guarantees.
