Yeah, I don't know how valid those concerns are, but in life most things are a balance. Too much of anything (like fluoride) may be really great for one thing (like hard teeth) but really bad for something else.

For plants, moderation ends up being the best thing. You can only load them up with so much nitrate and phosphate: at some point it starts being a liability to the plant.
