In any event, Seattle seems pivotal. ATT Wireless and Voicestream are based in the area, and this month Cingular consolidated its GTE property (obtained by SBC from Verizon by order of the FCC) within a GSM network . Fertile seed bed for GPRS and i-mode.

Verizon, Sprint, NTT all say they'll "be there" by the end of the year. Handset to handset. Brew vs. i-mode. 1x vs. GPRS. Speed, applications, color screens(?).... should be interesting.
