It wasn't just a market, they hit a hospital while they were at it.

NIS, Yugoslavia (CNN) -- Yugoslav officials said Friday that NATO bombs hit a city hospital and a market in two airstrikes in the southern city of Nis, killing at least 10 people and injuring 15.

In Brussels, NATO said it had attacked a radio relay station and an airfield in Nis but it had no indication that bombs also crashed on the hospital and marketplace.

"I've seen press reports on that. We are checking," NATO military spokesman General Walter Jertz said.

"For sure I can tell you we did not target civilian hospitals. We do not target any civilian targets whatsoever. We will be very honest. If anything has gone wrong we will address it," the spokesman added.

CNN Correspondent Brent Sadler, who was taken to the site by Yugoslav authorities, said he saw three bodies lying in pools of blood at the market among scattered farm produce.

Sadler said a bomb had exploded in a residential area, scattering a large number of fragments over a wide area. Cars were pockmarked and riddled with holes, and their windows blown out, he said.

Yugoslav officials said in one attack overnight, a heating plant at a hospital was hit. In a second attack Friday morning, the marketplace was struck, they said.

British defense officials said that key fuel facilities had been hit in Nis.
