"I only mean to provide a realistic view of both the potential and limitations for this product from a real-world, traders' point of view."

And I appreciate that. All of the examples you mention for not using such a system sound very real and as I expected for now. It's nice to see them in print though. :-) My quess would be that over time, the price will win out over knowing how the game went last nite.

"Again, that's not to say that there isn't room in the business for a trading system of this type."

Exactly what I'm hoping for. Just part of the whole.

Thanks again,

Jeff

In addition you state:

"And because trading systems do not yet, and may never be able to, provide the flexibility that directed brokerage, soft dollar, layoffs, step-outs, recapture, and other crucial institutional business practices do."

Ashton has delved into soft dollar issues and payment for third party research due to their relationship with Westminster: biz.yahoo.com

The other practices are over my head ie, layoffs, step-outs, and recapture. Maybe LPS5 could touch on those items when time permitted. In any event, I hope ATG is heading in the right direction to earn the business of financial institutions, that next frontier you mention.
