Hi The Prophet; I agree that validity has primarily to do with prior art. etc. But if you will read the reasoning behind the Markman decision, you will understand that the judge is looking at the 1990/1992 patents for an understanding of the later claims, presumably because the later patents are extensions of the 1990/1992 filings.

Maybe you're right, that the judge just restricted Rambus' claims rather than invalidated their later patents. Whatever. The result is the same, as the financial community quickly discerned, Rambus doesn't have claims that cover SDRAM or DDR.
