"I think this is not wise to sit out completely down here" Mark I started buying again and posted to that on Friday. What I have said and am saying is that the balance between savings and stock investment is crucial to anybody hoping to understand what happens next -- much as an understanding of oil price implications was important last summer and fall.

"I hope for a slow steady climb." This is, in my opinion, the best case scenario, reflecting a very slow conversion of "savings" back in to the stock market combined with a repairing of household balance sheets. This is not an environment where a highly speculative posture is likely to pay off. We may get some blips up as the move gets in gear (if the move gets in gear), but there will be no relief for fools who are over-committed to high risk stocks.
