Li Strives for Correct Info. on Academic Record Mar 26, 2001 - 08:56:52 HKT Quamnet News Service Pacific Century CyberWorks (0008), a major Asian communications investor which owns Hong Kong's largest phone company, said chairman Richard Li instructed a search be conducted of all relevant legal documents following the clarification issued on March 22 about his academic record. "Li has since become aware that one company of which he is a non-executive director and one company of which he was previously a non-executive director have filed public statements which contained certain erroneous material concerning his academic record," said PCCW in a statement. "Li has contacted the companies concerned and asked them to take all necessary and appropriate actions." Li said last Thursday that he does not have a degree from Stanford University, after recent media reports challenged company public relations materials that said he had graduated from the California institution. Li instructed PCCW to immediately set the record straight. PCCW shares ended last Friday down 0.7 percent to its new 52-week low of HK$3.575. quamnet.com
