Band-Ore Resources Ltd. - Independent Samples Confirm Area "E" Diamond Discovery

Burlington, Ontario. - Wednesday, April 18, 2001, 8:30 AM EDT

The Company is pleased to report the verification and validation
of previously reported diamond results from the new "Area E"
diamond discovery on the GQ property, located 20 km north of
Wawa, Ontario. One of the processed samples contained thirty (30)
macrodiamonds, the highest number of macrodiamonds to have been
reported from the GQ property, as well as 1,751 microdiamonds
from a 20.1kg sample. The samples were collected by a Qualified
Person, Dr. Ed Walker, PetroLogic Inc., an independent consultant
and expert in diamond-bearing rocks.

Dr. Walker collected two (2) samples from previously sampled
locations at the "Area E" discovery site and sent half of each
sample for caustic fusion and microdiamond recovery to
Saskatchewan Research Council (SRC) in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
and to Lakefield Research Limited, Lakefield, Ontario. A total of
51 macrodiamonds and 3,097 microdiamonds were recovered from a
total of 90.1 kg. The largest diamond from these samples measured
1.0mm x 0.96mm x 0.5 mm. To date, 9,235 diamonds, including 141
macrodiamonds, have been recovered from only 250 kg of sample
material from eight (8) locations within the "Area E" diamond
discovery. The largest diamond recovered measured 1.94mm x 1.54mm
x 1.16mm. The details of the samples and the diamonds recovered
to date from the "Area E" diamond discovery are summarized below;

During Dr. Walker's on-site visit, each of the samples reported
in the above table were located and the snow was removed. Dr.
Walker randomly selected two of the sites, obtained a secure
sample from each site and submitted the samples to the
laboratories labeled as Sample A and Sample B (see above table
for corresponding sample number). Each laboratory confirmed the
security seals as intact upon receipt and processed the >1 cm
rock fragments within the sample containers. Even though the
total diamond frequencies vary from the original sample and
between laboratories, the results clearly demonstrate that the
rocks at "Area E" readily contain at least 100 to 200 diamonds
per 10 kg of processed sample.

Field observations by Dr. Walker during his recent visit and
during the summer and autumn of 2000, support the interpretation
that even though many of the samples collected at "Area E" have
been conservatively described as "boulders", they are likely
sub-crop dislodged from bedrock during the recent construction of
the logging road.

An accelerated program of geological mapping, mechanical
stripping, detailed prospecting, additional sampling and drilling
will commence as the field season begins.
