Yes, luck is certainly key. I have been VERY lucky in my career and personal life. I've known others that seem to get nothing but bad luck. Life is strange...

"there is a very large component of luck in success"

Bull, Dave. There is luck, and some people are very lucky. It in NO WAY is a "very large component".

Now I know that all who have success also have had some luck. But they are where they are because they are smart and they work hard. Being smart may be a matter of luck, but as you state it, it is like being successful is like winning the lottery. By and large, that couldn't be further from the truth. Try running Intel on luck. Ask some of the engineers on the thread if they do what they do because they "got lucky".

This is DEFINATELY one of the falsehoods that the Dems spread. That lucky bastard can afford 39% easily. Otherwise he/she is just greedy, right?
