FT Article is a half lie in my opinion. Q's license in Australia is no showdown w/ Telestra who runs a nationwide CDMA network and will go 1X in any case. It is spectrum in apx 6 major Australian cities where QCOM can build out and prove a Data network to peove the viability of Data Only networks -- this is my guess.

This FT copy about VOD possibly switching their US Verizin network to W-CDMA is a far fetched wet dream. Verizon has announced a 2 year $5 billion build out and 1X upgrade of their US CDMA network. Further, QCOM has announced a multimode radio one ASIC which will run in GSM, GPRS, and all forms of CDMA. That solves the roaming issue. It is as if FT has its ears turned off. These announcements are very rea and everyone except FT jnows about them,
