Last march I didnt know that much about the market except I was rich!!! I called my broker and told her I wanted to sell, she talked me out of it, I would be richer. I than went to my sister and brotherinlaw whose finances I was handling and begged them to sell, they told me I was a idiot and really dont know about long term, taxes, etc. We actually had a huge fight and I stepped back and thought maybe I'm wrong maybe everyone else is right, and taxes r something you have to really consider ( even though in my heart I didnt believe they mattered), so I stopped all my whining. Do I bring this up at family dinners, every week?? You bet I do, 4X a month 12 times a year, ggg

Donald, my point was that there was an intense public assault on the people were they were told that the old ways of valuation were not real in the "New Era" it was every were and my point is that it was even justified by members of the FED in their testimony before congress and also promoted by the now President of the US as an alternative to the meager returns in Social Security Funds.

Just re-read his last August Republican Convention speech.

So why should your friend listen to you ?? try to be in his shoes !!!

Were are those analyst who promoted hype ?? Well paid of course, Were are those money manager to whom one entrusted his money for sound investments? They are still well paid and up to the next scam.

That is my point. It happen that you understand finances how many other do? Should I bring up the many times I was ridiculed on SI by warning people of over priced stocks? .............. but that is not my point I am not working for any publicly traded investment advisory nor I am holding high office in government.

Haim

<There is a grey area between ignorance and greed, where greed may have fogged the intellectual process of making an objective decision>

I think many of the Bulls felt they were invincible. It's sort of like a prize fighter who has never lost a fight before. Sure, that represents ignorance and disrespect for history. But that is what "new era" was partly all about. That kind of arrogance lends itself to a big fall. What's interesting here is that this arrogance is still very much alive and well today. At the "bottom", there will be humility and admission of defeat.

PS Keep up the great work.
