LSI buys CUBE... $$ for HLIT?

.....
The transaction ends C-Cube's lengthy search for a buyer. In October 1999, C-Cube agreed to sell its Divicom subsidiary to fiber-optic equipment maker Harmonic Inc. for $1.46 billion and announced it would seek to spin off or sell its remaining semiconductor operations upon the close of the Harmonic deal.

At the time, C-Cube said the terms of the Divicom sale call for Harmonic to receive a share of the proceeds if C-Cube were to sell its remaining operations.

CUBE now becomes 12% of LSI.(it's down 9.5% on the deal news) LSI has a number of Fabs, they should be able to make better gross margins on CUBE products.

At today's conference call, I expect C-Cube to pre-announce Q1, and guide lower for Q2. I don't know if LSI's positive spin will be enough to push the share price higher. C-Cube hasn't updated guidence since its January call. Other companies that guided lower in January have needed to guide even lower since. PMCS did it just this morning.
